IT BEGINS

Good morning, everyone! Today is the big day!

First of all, let's clarify/revise some of that schedule shit I was talking about before.

TODAY: I'll be posting the first log at around 3:00 PM CST. It's just going to be a general mingle type thing until 7:30 CST, which is when actual things will start happening. Specifically what will happen is sort of a mini exploration type event, wherein you will begin to explore a recurring part of the setting. This will have ~plot relevance~ and will also allow you to have some small effect on your gameplay later. That having been said, it is skippable. You are also allowed, if you so desire, to handwave having gone through it and just read some threads to keep up with everyone else.

As I was saying before, in order to facilitate me not running 30 threads at once, each team is getting their own exploration thread. To keep this coordinated the plan is to 1. make a plurk for each team or 2. make a chat for each team. Chats will not be IRC because fuck IRC. Instead, we'll use bloochat or some other similar "make a browser chat instantly" website. Work out what you prefer to use and then we'll do that.

Something important to note: everyone is going to start off separated by team. I'm going to make a toplevel thread for each team, and you should all keep all your threading under the toplevel for your particular team. By tomorrow, everyone will be tossed together when the first game begins.

Something else important to note: the empathy bond thing is something that is going to be added via plot happenings. You are not going to enter the game with it. During tomorrow night's events, a thing will happen which makes the empathy bond occur. Before that, the only connection the characters on each team will have is proximity and convenience. And probably need, to be honest, at least in some cases.

NOW LET US ADDRESS A FEW IMPORTANT POINTS TO KNOW

K WHAT STATE IS MY CHARACTER GOING TO BE IN WHEN THEY START
More or less the state they were in when they died. They'll be wearing the same clothes they had on when they died (these clothes will not be in team colors yet), carrying the same items (more on this in a second), etc. The condition that their body is in is something I leave to your discretion. If your character was hideously wounded, you are free to have those wounds remain, have them mostly healed, have them scar, or have them 100% disappeared, as you like.

Their powers, as stated before, will be reduced. As a rule of thumb characters' magical and unnatural abilities are going to be reduced to about 1/3 of their normal potency. Powers that are completely game-breaking (one-hit kills, reality-altering, etc) are changed to lesser versions or removed. Skill-based abilities, on the other hand, are left intact unless said skills are lost over the course of the game. Characters who start as amnesiacs have their skills intact by default, although if you really want them to lose some/all skills, you're free to have that happen.

WHAT SHIT CAN THEY HAVE WITH THEM
Whatever they had on their person at the time of their death. These items will not have been brought perfectly in-tact, however. Just like your character is reduced to 1/3 normal power, your characters items will be reduced to a less useful version. A magic sword will have its magic made weaker. A really great sword will be a less great sword. A normal sword will be a crappy sword, etc. The quality of the item should be reduced enough that your character will be like, aaw maaaaaan, what the hell.

IMPORTANT EDIT TO THIS: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO HEALING ITEMS, HEALING ITEMS ARE TOTALLY, 100% GONE.

WHAT IF THEY USE THEIR SICK MAGICS TO SUMMON ITEMS
They still can with the caveat of "their magic is 1/3 normal capacity." The summoned items will also be not quite as great as usual.

WHAT IS THEIR BODY LIKE
Dead. They have solid bodies that are indistinguishable from their normal forms. However, they are essentially an echo of their living selves. They will no longer need to eat or drink, and they will only feel occasional slight pangs of hunger or thirst if they felt it in life -- more a psychological desire than a physiological one. They can still taste, see, hear, smell, feel, etc. just as they could in life.

DO THEY FEEL SPOOKILY COLD
I mean, probably, but you're all the same level of coldness now so you shouldn't notice. If, for some bizarre and probably awful future plot reason, a character was able to regain more life in their body, then yes, they would probably notice that shades have cold bodies. That is not currently relevant unless you have a character who can objectively measure body temperature.

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION
You should ask that question here.

ISN'T THERE A BUNCH OF HOUSEKEEPING STUFF YOU NEED TO DO WITH TAKEN LISTS AND WHATNOT
YEAH THERE IS I'll get to it. I'm gonna fiddle with things, set it up a bit more, and then probably recruit some of you to help process taken list shit.
