Application Rules
Who can app: Anyone on the mod's plurk list is fine to join automatically. People who are friends of people in the game are also going to be cool. Generally speaking we will remain pretty laid back about who can app, but if you're unsure, just ask.
Characters that can be apped: canon characters, original characters, AU characters, post-game/CRAU characters, characters with a limited amount of canon, doubles of characters only if the two versions are different in a meaningful way (i.e. one canon and one significantly different AU, or two significantly different AUs, or two canons but different canons like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy or something), characters of any age/species/whatever (they may have to be altered or humanized if they are like, Godzilla or something).
Characters that can’t be apped: actual people.
Your character needs to be apped from right after their death. If they don’t die in canon, you can pick any canon point and just insert them dying somehow into it. If they do die in canon, you can app them from their canonical death, from a time before their canonical death where you’ve inserted their death, or from a time after their canonical death where you’ve made some AU where they didn’t die at that time.
Specifically they need to die at a point in time where they have some unfinished business left -- it can’t be death at a time when they are like, yep, I’ve done everything I set out to do, I have no regrets and no desire to keep living. You need to take them from a time when they would regret dying. If they canonically die without regrets, app them having died before then. If your character would absolutely never die with any regrets — talk to us! You may want to app them to Sakura, or otherwise have them corrupted. Both of these options would give them a very strong desire to return to life, regardless of whether they would want to otherwise.
If you are apping in as amnesiac, obviously your character won't remember anything about their death or their regrets. However, they will wake up with a strong sense that they have something they need to get back to. Like that feeling when you think you've forgotten something important, but you can't remember what. You should still apply under the assumption that your character died with unfinished business in case they regain memories about their death/the business in question.
If your character is already dead and existing in a dead state, you can either pull them from when they were alive or you can just have them show up here mysteriously, like something bad happened to them in their afterlife and somehow they ended up here. We’ll work it out.
Finally, if you are apping a third character, there is an activity requirement of 50 comments per month with each of your current characters. We would like to keep thirds limited to people who are going to be active in the game with all three characters, so while the requirement is pretty high it should be doable for anybody who is ready for a third character. Gathering threads is not necessary when submitting applications, but we do reserve the right to ask for proof of activity if we feel you may not be reaching the current requirements.

Post your applications in a comment to this post. Comments are screened by default. Notice that these apps aren't really here to judge your quality or anything like that. If you've been invited, the assumption is that you're ready to play here and you know your shit. This application is, more than anything, so that we can get a sense of what everyone likes, what you're all here for, what are the best teams to place characters on, etc. With that in mind, when you apply, you should assume that you've been accepted unless otherwise stated— if there's a problem, don't worry, we will reply and tell you as promptly as possible. Otherwise your app will only be replied to when your character has actually been placed.

Canon (AU/OC): If it’s an AU, tack on a short description of the AU. No more than 2 sentences.
Memory: "Regain" if your character is going to enter having already lost all their memories, "Loss" if your character is entering with their memories in tact.
Describe this character in one paragraph: No more than 5 sentences.
Team dynamics: tell us how your character works in a team, what kind of people they do/don’t get along with, etc.
What you want for this character: Give us a basic idea of your goals, if you have any. A few sentences is fine.
What kind of things you like to play: Comfort levels, things you enjoy, etc. A few sentences is fine.
Team preferences: tell us if there’s any particular team you like, any particular people or characters you want to play with or not play with, etc.
Starting memory: When your character enters the game, there is one memory that they will either have lost or gained -- that is, if they come in amnesiac, they wake up with this one memory, and if they come in non-amnesiac, they wake up having lost this one memory. You can change this when you get in if you really want to -- this is just to make sure you have at least one ready that you've considered. You don't need to describe it or anything here, just make a quick note.
Reapplying
If you would like to reapply with a dropped character, just leave a comment here with their name, journal, and original team. Linking to your original application, putting in assorted gifs, or otherwise sassing your mods are all optional but highly encouraged. If you would like to have your character return on a different team or have had them pick up some corruption during their stay off the path, note that too.
